The Blackberry Onyx 9020

The Blackberry Onyx has a larger screen and a slimmer profile than the Tour. It has support for 3G, GPS, WiFi, and UMA. The design is similar to the tour but it has more of a glossy finish. This new Blackberry has a 3.2 megapixel camera with video and flash. It has the same battery as the Bold so expect similar charge time and battery life. The Onyx has a sharp 480 x 360 display. Now most of the new Blackberry's have a keyboard that resembles the Bold. I really like how the micro SD card is positioned above the battery cover as apposed to behead the battery. I also found that the trackball does not light up instead there is a ring around it the lights up. The handset seems a little finger print prone due to all the darkened chrome around the phone. The Onyx has the same charger as the Tour or the Storm. I am going to be keeping my eye on on this smartphone.

HTC Dash 3G (T-mobile), Snap (Sprint), Ozone (Verizon)

HTC has built a phone that is made for 3 major carriers, Sprint, Verizon & T-Mobile. Each phone has a similar shape and keyboard. All models are really slim and have a rather small screen. The HTC has a micro SD card slot. The Dash 3G provided by T-Mobile and the Snap, provided by Sprint each have a track ball like a Blackberry and the Ozone, provided by Verizon, has a directional keypad. I found the Ozone's keyboard to be a little strange because the spacebar was off centered to the right. The Ozone is 1.3 ounces heavier than the other 2 models. All the models run windows Mobile 6.1 Standard. The T-Mobile Dash 3G is the replacement for the Dash which has been on the T-Mobile network for over 1 1/2 years. The two major differences between the Dash and the Dash 3G is the color and the fact that the Dash 3G has 3G. The Snap is all new to the Sprint network. All of the HTC models have a 2.4 inch. display, a GPS, 4 row keyboard, Bluetooth 2.0, wifi and a 2.0 megapixel camera but they do NOT have a 3.5 mm headset jack. Instead it uses a mini USB adapter.

The Blackberry Tour

The Blackberry Tour is like a fusion of the Blackbery Bold and the Blackberry Curve 8900. The keyboard appears to be not as wide as the bold but it is a similar design. The Blackberry is becoming more and more popular because of their growing app store, now the home to over 2,000 apps. The Blackberry TourIt is going to be on the Verizon network as a world phone which means you will be able to buy an unlocked GSM version. It has a a very slim profile and a 3.2 camera. the display is just as sharp as the curve 8900. It also has Blackberry maps and GPS. There will be two models offered, one with and one without a camera. The tour is going to replace the Blackberry 8830 world phone. This phone is now available for pre order.

The HTC Hero

HTC has recently released their all new handset, The Hero. It is a 5 megapixel and full flash phone with an onscreen keyboard available in landscape and portrait mode with a built-in accelerometer. This device will come in an assortment of colors. It also has a non-finger print touch screen as seen on the iPhone 3Gs. The HTC hero is running the HTC sense UI or rosie as it is better known. HTC just dressed up the android operating system. This UI has 7 customizable home screens. HTC calls this feature "make it mine". The G1 has something similar but it only has 3 home screens. The Hero is featuring a new design with beveled edges. The hero has massively slimed down since the G1. It has facebook , twitter, sms and mms standard. With this device, you will never be out of touch. HTC has finally put a 3.5 mm headphone jack in this phone. The HTC Hero has bluetooth 2.0 with stereo capability, google maps, 5.0 megapixel color camera with auto focus and video, and an MP3 player. It comes standard with 512k memory but can be extended with a micro SD card. The Hero gives the iPhone a run for its money.
